Topic: Mind Games
If you’re an athlete (or a pageant gal), you may have heard the saying that competition is 90 percent mental, 10 percent physical. Do you agree with that percentage breakdown? According to Dr. JoAnn Dahlkoetter, this ratio is definitely true. According to a study on competitive runners, most athletes focus on the opposite ration. They put 90 percent of their time and effort into the physical training and often neglect the mental aspect. It is proven that developing your confidence and focusing on your ability to handle pressure is really critical to performing your best.
This not only applies to runners but to anyone who sets
their mind to a goal. According to the
study, there are a few different traits that can make a huge difference in your
success. First of all, you need to love
what you do and have a desire to make your goals a reality. It also takes courage to succeed and to seek
out challenges. I believe that the most important thing is to believe and trust
yourself. Self-confidence will give you the ability to handle the challenge and
stick to your game plan even when you encounter challenges.
Come on ladies, you can do this!!!
